Skill Trials & Team Placement
The hockey trials for the CHSL Fall season are scheduled from April 22nd to April 26th at the BAM Ice Arena. Program Information
🚸 Ages
Boys and girls who are 9 to 14 years old in 2023 can join this program. Players who are 8 years old this year need the Hockey Director’s permission to try out.
📅 When
Skill trials are in late April. There will be some optional skills-based ice sheets during summer. Team practices start in late August. Games usually begin in mid-September and end with playoffs in late February.

🥅 Practices
Each player gets 2-4 ice times each week that are used for practices and home games. Practice days and times will be semiregular and predictable after the pre-season. Practices are typically no earlier than 5:45 pm on weekdays.
🏒 Games
This program has full-ice games. Teams play about 20-27 league games based on their Cleveland Suburban Hockey League division. This includes 8-12 pre-season and 12-15 regular season games. Coaches may also choose to join scrimmages and tournaments for additional games. The total number of games could range from 36 to 50.
🎽 Jerseys
Players in this program must purchase the SYHC home and away jerseys and socks. This expense is not included in the season's fee. Jersey sizing takes place in July.
💲 Additional Costs
Each team will have to cover expenses such as referee fees for scrimmages and tournament entrance fees. Total amounts vary by team schedule, number of scrimmages and tournaments. LATE FEES: SYHC provides a 25-day grace period for failed payments. After 25 days we will attempt to recharge the credit card on file for the installment amount due plus a $35 late fee. SKATERS
Every player will be assessed a nonrefundable fee that covers the ice time and evaluator overhead of $250. If you accept an offer with SYHC $100 will be applied to your total assessment.
Skater Assessment:
10U — $ 1400 OPEN
12U — $ 1500 OPEN
14U — $ 1600 OPEN

GOALIES
Goalie tryout cost is $150. If an offer is extended after tryouts, goalies are assessed an initial fee of $300 at the time an offer is accepted, but that fee is later reimbursed (after club verifies minimum goalie commitment is met for the season). In addition, goalies can submit up to $300 in receipts for reimbursement for goalie specific equipment or lessons.
